Twin Peaks Star Owain Rhys Davies Passes Away at 44

The family of Owain Rhys Davies, the actor known for his role in Twin Peaks, has issued a heartfelt tribute following his unexpected death at the age of 44.

Davies’ brother, Rhodri, announced the news on Instagram, stating that the Cardiff-born performer died "suddenly, naturally, and peacefully." In his post, Rhodri expressed immense pride in his sibling, noting, "We know that this loss will be felt by a great many people, and we take comfort in knowing how loved he was."

While acknowledging that "questions that remain unanswered regarding the circumstances of his death," Rhodri requested that the family be given privacy during this difficult time.

Davies gained widespread recognition for his portrayal of Agent Wilson in the 2017 revival of the iconic 1990s series Twin Peaks, created by David Lynch and Mark Frost. Beyond the cult classic, his filmography included a role in the Netflix sci-fi drama The OA alongside Brit Marling and Jason Isaacs. He also appeared in the fantasy film Alice Through The Looking Glass and the horror-comedy A Serial Killer's Guide To Life.

Following the announcement, the official Twin Peaks Instagram account shared a message of condolence: "Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and all those who knew and loved him. Thank you for being a part of the world of Twin Peaks, Agent Wilson."

The Welsh National Theatre also honored Davies, describing him as a "remarkable talent" whose contributions significantly enriched both Welsh theater and screen performance. In a statement, the theater highlighted his "passion, creativity, and dedication to his craft," noting that his work left a lasting impact on the cultural landscape of Wales.

"The Welsh performing arts community is poorer for his loss, and we can only imagine the many more stories he would have gone on to tell," the statement read, closing with the Welsh phrase for "Sleep peacefully, Owain": "Cysga'n dawel, Owain."
