Starmer accuses Musk of trying to whip up division over Henry Nowak murder

Starmer Condemns Musk’s Role in Fueling Division Following Henry Nowak Tragedy

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has accused technology mogul Elon Musk of attempting to exacerbate social tensions surrounding the death of Henry Nowak. The controversy intensified after the release of video evidence depicting police officers restraining Nowak as he lay dying. The footage reveals that the 18-year-old repeatedly informed officers that he was unable to breathe, even as he was handcuffed.

The incident, which occurred in Southampton, has been marred by claims from the suspect, Vickrum Digwa, who asserted that he had been the target of a racially motivated assault. These claims contributed to violent protests breaking out in the area where the murder took place.

X owner Musk has used his platform to post multiple criticisms regarding the police handling of the teenager. In response, Sir Keir addressed the issue during a visit to York on Thursday. He characterized Musk’s actions as interference in British domestic affairs, emphasizing that the victim’s family had consistently called for restraint and peace.

“We must reaffirm our national identity,” the Prime Minister stated. “Over the past few days, Musk has again attempted to interfere in our politics by trying to stir up division. That behavior is contrary to the values we hold in Britain.”

Starmer highlighted the nation’s character, describing Britons as “reasonable and tolerant people.” He contrasted this with the current situation, noting, “In cases as tragic as Henry Nowak’s, we respond with calm, just as his family has done.”
