This strategic move signals Meta’s shift toward encouraging sustained, long-form viewing habits rather than the fleeting, rapid-scrolling sessions typical of short-form video platforms. By organizing content into structured series, the tech giant hopes to foster stronger viewer retention and encourage audiences to return consistently. For creators, the feature provides a more systematic approach to releasing episodic material, such as instructional tutorials or ongoing challenges.

While Meta has indicated that it is exploring monetization strategies for the Series feature, it has not yet disclosed specific details regarding how creators might generate revenue. Notably, TikTok introduced its own Series feature in 2023, which enables creators to lock premium content collections behind a paywall for viewer purchase. It remains uncertain whether Meta will adopt a similar subscription-based model in the future.

According to Meta, serialized content is already gaining significant traction on the platform, prompting the development of this test feature to simplify the process of following every installment. For instance, a creator producing a “10 Days of Healthier Baking” project could aggregate all ten videos into a single, unified series. This collection would be housed in a new tab on the creator’s profile, providing a dedicated page where fans can locate all episodes, view them sequentially, and easily resume watching from their last position.

When users encounter a series episode while browsing their feed or the Reels tab, they will have the option to click through to the complete series to explore additional episodes. Additionally, viewers can save series for later viewing or follow them to stay current with new releases. The current testing phase involves collaboration with select creators and content producers who have previously published serialized material on Instagram and Facebook.
