BotDirector: Robot Storytelling Across the Symmetrical Reality with Multi-modal Interactions
Title: BotDirector: Enabling Robot Storytelling in Symmetrical Realities Through Multi-Modal Engagement
Abstract: Robot-driven storytelling merges technological advancement with creative expression, offering children an engaging experience unlike any other. Yet, the technical complexity often poses a barrier for young users. To address this, we introduce an interactive framework that simplifies robot storytelling through a combination of tangible interfaces and natural language processing. In this system, children design play environments using their personal items and develop stories via an LLM agent. These narratives are then converted into specific motion sequences determined by the layout and character roles, which are subsequently performed by self-navigating swarm robots. By supporting adaptable scenarios, this approach allows preschoolers to produce robot-led dramas using common household objects.
