Gethin trains to be Dr Oscar's guide runner

Gethin prepares to serve as Dr Oscar’s guide runner

A group of 200 participants is set to join the Morning Live team for the official Couch to 5k running event in Manchester. Following last year’s participation by Dr Punam, the focus has now shifted to Dr Oscar, who recently finished his training regimen on the program. Because Dr Oscar is visually impaired, he requires a guide runner for the upcoming race, a role that our own Gethin Jones has volunteered to fill. The accompanying video highlights Gethin’s preparation for the duty and outlines the process for viewers interested in becoming licensed guide runners. To view the segment with subtitles, visit BBC iPlayer and search for Morning Live, available from 29/05/2026.
