Garrett joins Rams as Beckham Jr returns to Giants

Myles Garrett Traded to Rams in Historic Deal as Odell Beckham Jr. Reunites with Giants

In a blockbuster move that reshapes the defensive landscape of the NFL, Myles Garrett is set to leave the Cleveland Browns for the Los Angeles Rams. The two-time Defensive Player of the Year will join the Rams in exchange for Jared Verse, a two-time Pro Bowl pass rusher. Additionally, the Browns will receive a 2027 first-round draft pick, a 2028 second-round selection, and a 2029 third-round pick as part of the transaction.

Garrett, 30, was selected first overall by Cleveland in the 2017 draft. Over his career with the Browns, he has accumulated 412 tackles, including 293 solo stops, alongside 125.5 quarterback sacks, 23 forced fumbles, and six recovered fumbles, one of which resulted in a touchdown.

Cleveland Browns General Manager Andrew Berry acknowledged the difficulty of the decision. He noted that the organization initially "did not envision a world" where Garrett was not a member of the team. "When the Rams first approached us with the possibility of trading Myles, we remained convicted in our position," Berry stated. However, as negotiations progressed, the team faced a significant dilemma. "But as discussions intensified we were stuck at a legitimate crossroads. Hold on to a truly generational player who has become the identity of our team, or do we make the difficult decision that we think is best for the organisation over the long run?"

Berry concluded that despite emotional confusion, the choice became evident within the context of the team's future. "In that framework, the decision became clear, although our emotions were muddled. As we embark on a new era of Browns football with a young core and a replenished asset base, we felt this move was important to our transition."

In other significant roster movements, wide receiver AJ Brown has moved from the Philadelphia Eagles to the New England Patriots. The three-time Pro Bowl selection recorded 524 catches for 8,029 yards and 56 touchdowns across 105 regular-season games split between the Eagles and the Tennessee Titans. In his final season with Philadelphia, Brown caught 78 passes for 1,003 yards and seven touchdowns in 15 games.

Meanwhile, Odell Beckham Jr. has returned to the New York Giants, the franchise where he first established his NFL career 12 years prior. Beckham, 33, signed as a free agent after sitting out the previous season, during which he served a six-game suspension for violating the league’s substance abuse policy. Following workouts with the Giants in April and again on Monday, he finalized his return to the team.

"Nothin [sic] was ever given to me I worked for everything I have. Never give up on urself [sic]. Home Team i'm back…. Let's get it," Beckham wrote on Instagram.

Selected by the Giants in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft, Beckham spent five seasons in New York. During that tenure, he recorded 390 receptions for 5,476 yards and 44 touchdowns in 59 games before being traded to the Cleveland Browns in 2019. He later joined the Los Angeles Rams, contributing to their Super Bowl victory in 2022, though he suffered knee ligament injuries during that championship game and has faced challenges with his performance since. Beckham re-entered the league with the Baltimore Ravens in 2023 and spent the 2024 season with the Miami Dolphins.

Across his entire NFL career, Beckham has tallied 575 receptions for 7,987 yards and 59 touchdowns. He has also added 170 rushing yards and one touchdown on 23 carries.
